CASE STUDY

PETSHOP WEBSITE

PETSHOP is a complete pet care platform, where the  user can easily take care of their pet.  It provides professional pet care services: pet boarding, pet grooming, pet veterinarian and more. The project had a duration of 1 month : from July to August 2023.

The Problem

Busy workers and commuters lack the time necessary to take care of their pets

The Goal

Design a websie   that allows users to easily order products and serices for their pets.

Responsabilities and role:

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs. Role: UX designer designing an website for PETSHOP from conception to delivery.

User Research Summury

I conducted some interviews to understand the difficulties they face to care their pets.

This user group confirmed initial assumptions about Petshop customer like pet owners don't have efficient time to take their pet out for a walk and they also don't feel safe to with pet grooming going to their places.

Pain Points

1) TIME: Lack of time to take the pets out

2) ACCESSIBILITY: Platforms for ordering pet services and products are not equipped with assistive technologies.

3) PRACTICITY: Pet owners don't feel confortable with pet groomings in their spaces.

Personas were derived from the research, which helped empathize with their need for quick and easy information relevant to their lives, in addition to being able to share and create immersive interactions.

Paper Wireframes

Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points.

Digital Wireframes

As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from  the user research.

Low fidelity prototype

Using the completed set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype.

Usability Study fidings

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.
Round 1 findings:

1) People want safe and fast online consutation

2) Users want worthy professional caring pet

Round 2 findings:

1) Not easy to understand discount and shipping process

Mockups

High Fidelity Prototype

The final high-fidelity prototype presented cleaner user flows.

I learned that....

It was an interesting experience for me where I have learned a lot to explore the user’s perspective and try to find out what are the core problems they face, then offer creative solutions on a website platform with a Design Thinking approach.

The next steps after this experience is to conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed. And conduct more user research to determine any new areas of need.
