CASE STUDY
ENDANGERED FLOWERS
Endangered Flowers is an international company that strives to realize sustainable environments and save the endangered flowers troughout the world collaborating with local farmers and inspiring all to protect biodiversity for future generations.
Project Duration: August 2023 to September 2023.
The Problem
People throughout the world has lack of time to understand how to save, conserve and plant endangered flowers.
The Goal
Design an App that allow users to easily plant and conserve endangered flowers.
Responsabilities and role:
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs. Role: UX designer designing an app for My Favorite Food Truck from conception to delivery.
User Research Summury
I conducted some interviews to understand the difficulties they face to conserve, be informed and plant flowers.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions about safeguarding plants from extinction like people don't have efficient time to find places to plant endangered flowers. They also don’t feel comfortable because of the lack of knowledge to understand which flowers should be saved and how.
Pain Points
1) TIME: Lack of time and knowledge to safeguard the endangered flowers
2) ACCESSIBILITY: Platforms for donations and plant flowers are not equipped with assistive technologies
3) PRACTICITY: lack of knowledge to understand which flowers should be saved and how.
Personas were derived from the research, which helped empathize with their need for quick and easy information relevant to their lives, in addition to being able to share and create immersive interactions.

Mapping Paul's user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to The Endagered Flowers Website and App.

Paper Wireframes
I’ve project from mobile to desktop paying attention to the best experience the user can have while in different devices, working on their pain points.

Paper Wireframes Screen Size Variations
I’ve project from mobile to desktop paying attention to the best experience the user can have while in different devices, working on their pain points.

Digital Wireframes
Users were frustrated while trying to choose flowers and make payments. So we added a filter to search the flowers and enhanced the payment method.

Low fidelity prototype

Usability Study fidings
I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.
Findings:
1) Simplify checkout form
2) Add filter to find quickly the flowers
3) Donation button easy to find

Mockups
The second usability study revealed frustration to find quickly a flowers to donate

Users were not sure where to donate. I added a call to action right on the top

High Fidelity Prototype

I learned that make an app and website is a long process that needs to be tested and shared with others of the team to optimize it. Team work is crucial!
The next steps after this experience is to conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed. And conduct more user research to determine any new areas of need.
